HOPE MOUNTAIN CENTRE is a registered charity working to strengthen people’s connection with nature. Through shared outdoor experiences, we seek to improve people’s health and the health of ecosystems. Building a love of the outdoors is the best way to inspire people to become better stewards. We offer outdoor events for all ages and abilities, spanning all seasons. Our programs are professionally led, with educational experts who explore topics ranging from ecology and human history to backcountry skills. Join us in the outdoors and ignite your sense of wonder!
With a heavy heart and after much deliberation, Hope Mountain Centre has made the decision to cancel our public programs (June through December, 2020) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic threat. Many reasons are behind the decision, but our primary goal is to protect the public and staff. Hope Mountain Centre is closely monitoring the advice from the BC Public Health Office (PHO) and will adjust our plans accordingly if new data suggests a different direction.
Please don’t forget us, we’re still here! Our pause in public programming is letting us do things like upgrading school programs, sharing additional information on social media, safely continuing with our trails program and water testing, and production of short educational videos. Later in the fall, a determination will be made regarding our approach to winter and spring public programming based on information from the Public Health Officer. In the meantime, as Dr. Bonnie Henry says, “This is our time to be kind, be calm and be safe.” We’d like to take this opportunity to encourage you all to get outdoors safely in the coming months and follow provincial guidance on safe health practice and responsible recreation.
